Description: The Department of Food Science offers undergraduate major that incorporates the knowledge in microbiology, chemistry, engineering, and nutrition in regards to food. It provides hands-on experience and internship opportunities for the students usually in the summer and 100% job placement. Its graduate program provides in-depth training in food chemistry, microbiology, engineering and processing. There are six impact groups in research at this time, including ingredients as materials; food safety; cocoa, chocolate & confectionery products; plant & mushroom products; dairy foods manufacturing; and family & community food systems. The department also offers short courses and workshops including a certificate program that can be count as non-credit continuing education.
