Description: The Nutrition and Food Science program at Nottingham University is a 3-year, full-time undergraduate degree. The focus is on food manufacturing and processing. In the first year of the degrees, students learn about nutrition and its connection to health, chemical and physical properties of food and the changes that take place when food is cooked and manufactured. In year two students study the relationship between nutrients, metabolism and, the development of diseases. On the practical side, students take on a project in manufacturing their own food products and learn about the different engineering processes by food manufacturers. In year three students tackle nutrition related social policy. There is an optional industry placement year, where students put their learning into practice, this extends the program to 4 years.
