Description: The John Bowne Agricultural Program began in 1917 and the program currently has over five hundred students and eight teachers. Freshman and sophomore students take classes in both the Plant and Animal science then major in either one in their junior and senior years. The school owns a four-acre land laboratory including a poultry house, large animal bam, exotic animal laboratory, greenhouse, orchard, and field crops. The program is unique for its hands-on experience. Each student is assigned a 15-foot by 15-foot plot of land to raise their own plants. They are placed in various city and farm agricultural internships during summer. The graduates go on to agricultural and technical colleges to establish their professions.
