Description: The Global Food Security Consortium is a network of researchers and educators at Iowa State University. The overarching aim of all the groups is to feed the world while maintaining Earth’s health. They want to improve education, agriculture, animal science, water use, food storage systems, and nutrition in an economic and sustainable way. The consortium includes plant, seed, animal, food and climate scientists, soil engineers, economists, sociologists, vets, and immunologists. The research foci of the group are plant and animal genetics, developing crops and livestock that will tolerate climate changes, finding genes that are disease resistant, and developing plant and animal vaccines.
