Join us for a series of workshops, each comprising four engaging sessions where we blend horticultural theory with practical, hands-on learning. Explore the world of plants in our educational space and greenhouse, gaining a deep understanding of horticultural concepts while actively participating in planting, cultivating, and nurturing. Whether you’re a seasoned gardener or just starting out, our workshops offer a unique opportunity to connect theory with real-world experience, fostering your passion for plants and gardening.

You will walk away from these workshops with lots of plants that you will have grown!

Workshop Outline

Session 1: Introduction to Plant Science

  • Overview of plant science
  • Basics of plant classification
  • Plant kingdom and binomial nomenclature
  • Practical exercises in Plant Propagation: Seeding

Session 2:  Botany: Plant Parts and Functions and Propagation Techniques

  • Plant Anatomy: Functions of stems, leaves, buds, roots, flowers, fruit, and seeds
  • Overview of sexual and asexual propagation
  • Detailed study of seed germination
  • Practical hands-on exercises on propagation methods

Session 3: Physiology: Plant Growth and Development

  • Environmental factors affecting plant growth
  • Processes of photosynthesis, respiration, and transpiration
  • Light, temperature, water, and nutrition in plant development
  • Practical plant exercises in greenhouse

Session 4: Propagation Techniques

  • Practical hands-on exercises on propagation methods; seeding and cuttings
  • Planting techniques and considerations
  • In depth discussions on plant placement
