Exploring the intersection between marine and terrestrial agriculture, economy, environment, climate change, and beyond
Join us for the 2025 Sea to Soil Symposium, to be held on Friday, May 2, 2025, in Southampton, NY. Resilient agriculture, climate adaptations, and sustainable food systems are at the center of this signature program, designed in collaboration with the School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences.
This edition explores the powerful connection between regenerative agriculture and restorative aquaculture in coastal foodscapes. The event begins with a VIP boat excursion available to sponsors, a marketplace and a series of insightful talks at the Duke Lecture Hall on the Stony Brook Southampton Campus at 39 Tuckahoe Road, Southampton. Speakers include:
- Paul Greenberg, the keynote speaker, is an award-winning author and environmental journalist. Greenberg’s work on sustainable seafood, climate change, and food systems (Four Fish, The Climate Diet) makes complex global issues both accessible and compelling.
- Chris Gobler, Ph.D., Endowed Chair of Coastal Ecology and Conservation, is a leading Professor at the School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences at Stony Brook University.
- Sue Wicks, founder of Violet Cove Oyster Co., has a fascinating journey from former WNBA all star athlete turned oyster farmer.
- Terry Nipp is a senior research scientist at Texas A&M Blackland Center and AgMIP Director for Policy and Development.
- Tela Troge, Shinnecock Tribal Member, specializes in Kelp farming.
